REACH?ING? OUT. Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte says the city is trying to reach out to investors and tourists, telling them Davao City is safe despite martial law. In her speech during the 4th Davao Investment Conference (ICON) on Friday, July 21, Duterte said this year’s ICON is the best chance to show people that Davao City is "conducive to investments." Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio decided to terminate the Mega Harbour project, a joint venture agreement signed by her father, then city mayor and now President, Rodrigo Duterte with the Mega Harbour Port and Development Incorporated.

Duterte warns mining companies: pay higher taxes or shut down

President Rodrigo Duterte gave a stern warning to mining companies that they will have to take responsibility to rehabilitate mining areas they destroyed or he will put an end to mining.
