Filipino hostage released in Nigeria

12 June 2007 ? Philippine Ambassador to Nigeria Masaranga R. Umpa reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Filipino seafarer seized by unnamed militants in Bayelsa State, Nigeria on 25 May 2007 was released on the evening of 11 June (Nigeria time) to Nigerian authorities and is now undergoing medical examinations.

Davide to faciliate UN negotiations for tribal rights

Philippines: Mandatory cellphone registration by NTC denounced

MANILA — Detained Anakpawis lawmaker Crispin Beltran today expressed opposition to the move of the National Telecommunications Commission to require all cellular phone manufacturers, dealers and users to register their units and pay P150 for every phone registered.
