NPA denies killing of family of four in Calinan

The 1st Pulang Bagani Company of the New People’s Army in Southern Mindanao categorically denies any hand in the brutal massacre of the Gonzaga family in sitio Bulan-Bulan, Barangay Dalagdag Calinan last Monday, April 9.

Davao: Mountaineer?s Death a Blunder of DOT, PAMB

DAVAO CITY — A mountaineering group said the fate of Ian Caasi, the mountain climber who drowned at Mt. Apo?s Lake Venado during the observation of the Holy Week, exposes the absence of concrete policies for the safety of mountain climbers and Mt. Apo visitors.

Jumar Bolo, chairperson of the Kinaiyahan Amomahon, Ubanan ug Bantayan (Kauban) Movement, said the death of Caasi could have been avoided had the tourism department, the primary agency responsible for inviting people to climb Mt. Apo, set-up safety measures which could have assured the safety of the mountaineers.

Philippines: BIR’s Bunag Tells Davao Grads to Dream

DAVAO CITY — In powder blue toga, the 460 boys and girls ages 16 to 17 who belong to the 58th graduating high school students of the Ateneo de Davao University were honored by the presence of Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Jose Mario C. Bunag as their commencement speaker and disclosed to them the plans of his bureau for the youth.

Bunag who is also a Blue Knight being a graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University came to Davao City to share his experiences and his commitment while serving the government.

Mother Loses 4th — and Last — Son to Davao Death Squad

Clarita Alia, a vegetable vendor in Bankerohan, Davao City, frantically called members of the Davao media this morning to report that her son, Fernando, 15, was stabbed dead at around 3 in the morning today, Friday. Before this, she already lost three other sons to the so-called Davao Death Squad. Fernando was her last remaining son.
