MANILA — The Bagong Alyansang Makabayan ( Bayan ) today picketed the Australian Embassy in Makati. The group was protesting President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo?s visit to Australia and the impending signing of a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) which allows the entry of Australian troops to the Philippines.
The protesters carried signs saying ?No to SOFA? and ?Stop Aid to a Dictator?.

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has criticised comments from Sri Lanka opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe which argued that Sri Lankan editors should be summoned before Parliament and questioned under the Parliamentary Privileges Act.

Delegates and participants at the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) World Congress in Moscow put the rights of women in media at the top of the agenda in an effort to press demands for an end to media stereotyping and discrimination.
