With the unexpected citywide water interruption on February 27 caused by the Mindanao-wide power outage, Davao City Water District will postpone the three sets of water cuts scheduled February 28 – March 2.
Davao City mayor Rodrigo Duterte and former Mutya ng Dabaw winner Fila Guia Hidalgo were among the personalities who joined the city’s event for the One Billion Rising for Justice Campaign on Valentine’s Day February 14.
“As the youth arm of Gabriela in UP Mindanao, we rise for Justice. Justice for the victims of typhoon Yolanda, environment plunder, and for our right to education,” spokesperson Keziah Suzane Francisco said.
Davao’s track record is significant as the first smoke-free city among ASEAN nations, in a citation given last year by the Southeast Asian Tobacco Control Alliance (SEATCA).
