Davao City Water District: water interruption caused by Mindanao-wide power outage

Feb. 27, 2014

With the unexpected citywide water interruption on February 27 caused by the Mindanao-wide power outage, Davao City Water District will postpone the three sets of water cuts scheduled February 28 – March 2.

The DCWD management sees that continuing with the water cuts will immensely burden supposedly would-be affected customers especially that some areas are still recovering from the emergency water outage in the city. Thus, it has decided to postpone these water cuts until further notice:

The 12-hour water cut from 8:00 PM of February 28 until 8:00 AM of March 1. Areas with no water include Bo. Obrero, Bucana (Savina, Sitio Narra, Manggahan, St. John, Sto. Niño, Bilusa, Sanasa & Busna), P. Bangoy (RGA Village & Cory Aquamarine Village), Agdao (Tancontian, Agdao Public Market, New Salomonan, Gotamco, Coreas Village, Baybay Carpenter, Barrio Bagumbuhay, Agdao Beach, NHA – Agdao & Sto. Niño Kasadya Village) and San Antonio (Ruiz Village, Denia Village, YCF Village, Freedom Settlers & Ibula Village). Areas with low pressure to no water include Agdao (Belisario Village, Jerome Ext., San Miguel Village, Ubalde Village, Sto. Niño Pelayo Village, Davao Farms Village & Bayside Village), Lanang (Hillside Subd., Lanang Executive Homes, Lulu Subd., Belisario Village, Grand Regal Hotel, SM Lanang & Guadalupe Village), Pampanga (Summerhill Village, Nova Tierra Village, Fortune Executive Homes, Sto. Domingo Phase I & II, Pampanga Executive Homes, Belen Homes, Bancom Homes, San Roque Village, PAL Cloud & Donasville Subd.), Sasa (Doña Paz Subd., Southern Homes, Bolton Village, Don Lorenzo Subd., Doña Pilar Village & Doña Asuncion Subd.) and Panacan (ICSAMA Sapaha & Philippine Naval Forces served by Dumoy Water Supply System).

Second set scheduled from 8:00 PM of February 28 until 12:01 AM of March 2 that would have affected Sasa areas particularly Hacienda Village, Marla Compound, Doña Aurelia Village, Lougemar Subd. & Doña Salud Village.

The first two sets of water interruption are supposed to allow DCWD’s crew to install the 2-300mm diameter butterfly valve at the 300mm diameter Mortar Line Coated Steel Pipeline at Jacinto Ext. cor. Quirino Ave. in Poblacion and Jacinto Ext. near F. Torres St. for preventive maintenance.

Third set slated 9:00 PM of March 01 until 3:00 AM of March 2 affecting entire NHA Ma-a, Maharlika Village and immediate environs for the installation of gate valves for bypass for District Metered Area at NHA Ma-a to help reduce non-revenue water.

DCWD management also apologizes for the emergency water service interruption on February 27 emanating from prolonged emergency power outages. While power may have resumed at noontime in the Dumoy area where the production wells are located and in other city parts where other water supply systems are located, DCWD requires additional time for re-switching on of the wells, pressure build-up and line delivery.

The general public may visit DCWD website (www.davao-water.gov.ph) and official Facebook account (www.facebook.com/davaocitywaterdistrict) or call the Central Information Unit / Call Center through the new 24-hour hotline 297-DCWD (3293) and press “1” on their phone dial to listen to latest daily water updates. They may also call / text 0927-7988966, 0925-5113293 and 0908-4410653 for other updates, complaints, queries and matters pertaining to DCWD services. (Jovana T. Duhaylungsod)
