It?s not enough that progressive partylist organizations — those that bear the brunt of the state?s policy of linking them to the communist movement ? are being harassed, intimidated and murdered. They, too, are being denied space for their campaign materials.

Military Denounced for Abuses in Talaingod, Digos

DAVAO CITY ? The human-rights group Karapatan has denounced the so-called ?Re-engineered Special Operations Team? of the 39th Infantry Battalion under Lt. Jerald Ho for allegedly sowing fear and terror among residents of sitio Bandera Brgy. Balabag in Digos City.

The group also criticized the military for the alleged human rights violations perpetrated by elements of the 73rd Infantry Battalion, the Cafgu paramilitary group and Alamara militia against the Ata-Manobo tribe in Talaingod town, Davao del Norte.

Ocampo lawyers ready for Supreme Court oral arguments

Lawyers for detained Bayan Muna Rep. Satur C. Ocampo are prepared to
appear before the Supreme Court tomorrow at 1:00 pm at the tribunal’s
session hall at Padre Faura, Manila for oral arguments on the
lawmaker’s petition for certiorari seeking to trash the arrest warrant
and murder charge leveled against him.
