NPA to AFP Eastern Command: Don’t vent ire on civilians to save your dishonor

The 1st Pulang Bagani Company calls on the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to stop venting its ire on the people of Barangay Manay and Barangay Casilac, Panabo, Davao del Norte in order to deflect attention from the dishonor it has suffered in the NPA raid on the Davao Penal Colony.

Philippines: Virginia Tech Massacre Magnifies Need to Keep Schools Safe — Arroyo

MANILA — Saying that schools are “sanctuaries of learning for the youth,” President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo underscored today the need to keep all school campuses safe and secure to avoid incidents such as the senseless killings that took place on Tuesday at the Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia.

PIMENTEL CITES NEED TO CORRECT FLAWS IN ABSENTEE VOTING LAW

Genuine Opposition senatorial candidate Aquilino Pimentel III today cited the need to correct legal flaws in the Overseas Absentee Voting Law that prevent or discourage overseas Filipinos from availing of the right to vote for national government officials of their homeland.

Unless these flaws are rectified, Pimentel said expatriate Filipinos, particularly those who have migrated to the United States, will remain indifferent to the exercise of their voting right.
