Hearing of labor dispute at Japanese banana firm moved

Banana workers under the labor group called Namasufa will have to wait for next year to settle its labor dispute after the Sumifru management failed to show up in a meeting called by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Manila scheduled on Thursday.

NPA in Northern Mindanao remain ‘stronger’ after 50 years

Despite the claim of the military that its forces have weakened in the past few years, the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), through its armed wing the New People’s Army (NPA), has maintained that it has not lost its strength five decades after it was established as the insurgent group has been launching more than a hundred of offensives against the state forces in parts of Northern Mindanao just this year alone.

Generations of fighters | Bicol as hotbed of revolution

Somewhere in the mountainous part of the region, there were makeshift huts made of freshly cut pieces of wood, leaves and plastic waterproof sheets. A few hammocks made of taffeta hung in between trees. These served as temporary sleeping quarters for the mobile army composed mainly of peasants, some workers and intellectuals.

PSSCC to impose changes in Duterte’s annual gift-giving tradition
