Solons urge better disaster response after Odette

With the slow action of government in response to survivors of Typhoon Odette, lawmakers from Mindanao urged the passage of laws that will create a department focused on disaster response and to build permanent evacuation centers.

“We request that the Duterte administration fully respect the Churches’ efforts to serve the [‘anawim’] including its partner organizations, in both paper and practice, in order to continue the 500-year work here in the Philippines,” said the Ecumenical Forum for Peace and Human Rights.
