Customs stops e-waste from Hong Kong in Mis. Or. port

China has joined other countries that dump their garbage to the Philippines following information relayed by the Bureau of Customs in Northern Mindanao (BOC-10) that tons of electronic waste (e-waste) and other forms of trash has entered the local port from the Chinese territory.

Lawmaker urges gov’t agencies to act on imported trash

A lawmaker has urged entities that played a role in the entry of the waste materials from Australia and China to take concrete action so the various issues could be resolved surrounding the imported trash that is dumped here.

Waste materials from Australia not illegal, says Customs official

The close to a dozen container vans that arrived from Australia early this month were not toxic garbage but processed materials which will be used as fuel for a cement company’s manufacturing plants, said the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Thursday.

An airline has canceled two of its flights Wednesday to reboot its system, said the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) at Laguindingan Airport in Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental.
