DAVAO CITY ? Human Rights group Karapatan-Southern Mindanao condemned in the highest possible terms today the recent order of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Department of National Defense (DND) to speed up the recruitment, training, equipping and deployment of Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Units (CAFGUs) as this aims to replace transferred paramilitary troops in the hinterlands.

Duterte wants child-protection law scrapped

Duterte said teenagers today are different from those in the past and, at 15, he believed a boy already has discernment. He also thought the Juvenile Justice Law, which says children below 15 cannot be held criminally liable, is open to abuse -- a lot of criminals could get away with crime because of this, he said. He called the law myopic and impractical.

This city once again made history when a graduate from John Paul II College of Davao topped this year?s Geodetic Engineer Licensure Examination given by the Board of Geodetic Engineering in Manila last September. Alfredo Cahiles Gaborne Jr., from Calinan, said he did not expect to get the highest rating and that all he wanted was to be in the top 20 list.
