Anakpawis laughs off Del Rosarios corruption charge, cites no PDAF since 2005

Nov. 16, 2009

DAVAO CITY With placards bearing the statement Bakakon si Col. Del Rosario,

Anakpawis regional coordinator Pedro Arnado together with leaders of other progressive partylists Bayan Muna, Gabriela, and Kabataan slammed the 1003rd Brigade chief for actively engaging in partisan campaign against the groups.

At a media briefing yesterday (November 10) hosted by Makabayan, Arnado strongly belied accusations by Col. Eduardo Del Rosario that its Philippine Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) has been used to purchase NPA armaments.

Since 2005, after we have led one of the impeachment complaints against Mrs. Arroyo, we have not been getting the said PDAF, Arnado said.

He added, But this has not deterred us from serving the people. We have put forward bills, resolutions and laws which aim to address the pressing concerns of farmers, workers and urban poor. We also found ways to endorse projects through other means.”

Arnado said that since Anakpawis took office in the lower house since 2004, it has a track record of 190 projects — 4 bridges, 13 flood control systems, 107 community based health programs and services, 2 IT based, 94 livelihood, 68 multi-purpose buildings, 28 school buildings, 30 social services, 10 trainings, 69 water systems, 12 educational services.

The farmer leader said 297 of its proposed projects and services have been denied by Malacanang since 2005.

Shrugging off with a laugh the Colonels accusations of corruption, Arnado stressed that Anakpawis congressmen belongs to the 10 poorest congressmen out of the 278 members of the lower house.

Until he died, Ka Crispin Beltran remains to be poorest congressman with only P 50,000 net worth. He died while fixing his own roof in the slum areas of Bulacan, Arnado said.

Rep. Rafael Mariano, incumbent Anakpawis representative, a simple farmer from the Central Luzon, has then taken Ka Bels place as the poorest congressman with also a net worth of P 55,000.
