Palparan legitimized and honored in Congress — NDF

May. 28, 2009

The National Democratic Front of the Philippines-Southern Mindanao scores the entry of General Jovito Palparan and his illegitimate Arroyo regime-backed partylist Bantay in the halls of the GRP Congress.

The NDF calls Gen. Jovito Palparan a walking murderer and human rights violator now scheming with the most powerful landlords and bureaucrat capitalists in the GRP’s (Government of the republic of the Philippines) highest legislative arena.

During his active years in the military before retiring in 2006, Palparan was responsible for the abduction, torture and murder of activists and ordinary civilians in Southern Tagalog, Central Luzon, Eastern Visayas and now in Mindanao. Palparan ordered the killings of human rights workers Eden Marcellana and Eddie Gumanoy; the abduction, illegal detention and torture of brothers Raymond and Reynaldo Manalo who witnessed against Palparan for masterminding the abduction and subsequent rape of University of the Philippines students Karen Empeno and Sherlyn Cadapan. Even the GRP’s Supreme Court and the United Nations held him accountable for these gruesome crimes.

The NDF warns the people that via Palparan’s Bantay partylist, time-honored civil, political and human rights safeguards run the greater danger of being blatantly trampled upon. He would also have more leverage to connive with large mining, logging and other big business corporations to harass and threaten communities to impose the regime’s anti-people and pro-imperialist agenda. Recently, the death of environmental activist Eliezer ‘Boy’ Billanes tags Palparan and his group as behind the violent killing. Billanes is known as a staunch critic of Xstrata-SMI Mining Corporation. In the halls of Philippine congress, Palparan ‘the Butcher’ is legitimized and ‘honored.’

Arroyo and Palaparan may be rejoicing in these times but sooner or later the revolutionary hand of justice will catch up with them.
