Pantukan small-scale miners protest US-owned mining anew

Agitated after learning that drilling explorations have resumed last week, some 1,000 small-scale miners and farmers staged a protest rally Monday morning to reiterate their position against the joint mining operations of US-based St. Augustine Gold and Copper Limited (SAGCL), formerly Russell Mining and Minerals Inc., and its local partner, the Nationwide Development Corp. (Nadecor).

Slain kid’s family slams prosecutor’s handling of case

The family of the slain eight-year boy reacted strongly to the decision of the government prosecutor who thrashed its murder complaint against soldiers they claimed to have been in the area at the time of the incident.

Jailed scientist’s research part of Pablo recovery plans – group

The research study by University of the Philippines physicist, Kim Gargar, is supposed to guide a disaster response group on the how to rehabilitate certain Typhoon Pablo ravaged areas in Compostela Valley, a private welfare group said.
