EARTH DAY PROTESTS. Hundreds of protesters, including fisherfolk, environment groups and church people picket the site of the proposed 200MW coal plant site in Sitio Tampuan, Maasim, Saranggani Province. Painting themselves blue, protesters mimick the Avatar movie's Na'vi, whose home was destroyed so that powerful corporations could mine their resources. Protesters say the Alcantara-owned project threatens coastal waters that serve as the town's major source of livelihood. (contributed photo)
I can’t blame these people for opposing the construction of the coal plant especially since it is threatening their way of life. I think that dressing up as the Navi was a good idea because a lot of people have seen the movie Avatar and hopefully they will identify with their cause
