DAVAO CITY – Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Director of Region XI Priscilla N. Razon, was awarded as the best manager among different regional directors in the country.
The criteria of the award include outstanding performance, collaboration with partners and stakeholders and resource generation.
“I owe this to our staff and the entire DSWD family who really helped in winning this award. I owe this to the implementers who would check the mountains, cross the rivers and really risk their lives to reach the furthest barangay to deliver our programs and services to the most marginalized families in the country,” Razon said.
Razon’s award came in the wake of typhoon survivors’ protests against the DSWD’s inefficiency in distributing relief goods and building houses for the affected families of supertyphoon Pablo.
In 2013 hundreds of Pablo survivors carted away relief goods stored in DSWD office here.
Meanwhile, typhoon victims also said the agency’s housing plan for them is a failure as it was built far away from their farms.
DSWD secretary Corazon Soliman also faces calls for her resignation after the Commission on Audit (COA) found out the agency misused typhoon funds for the Typhoon Sendong survivors. (davaotoday.com)
