The House Committee on Labor and Employment discussed a bill pushing for the regularization of contractual workers in a hearing Wednesday.
House Bill 4396 or An Act Prohibiting Contractualization and Promoting Regular Employment was filed May last year by the Gabriela Women’s Partylist.
Representative Emmi de Jesus said the bill is the answer for the cries of millions of contractual employees who “have no job security and are denied of their right to benefits.”
De Jesus said the contractualization of workers “makes them vulnerable to abuses.”
