The international community composed of 78 various peace groups called on the Congress to honor the peace agreement with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on Thursday.
“The international community continues to look up to the Philippines as a leader in the pursuit of peace and justice and in women’s participation in political and peace processes at all levels. It also stands ready to provide support in order to translate the words of the peace agreement into realistic actions,” the groups said in a statement.
Most of the signatories are women organizations. The groups also said they are calling for “a timely, transparent, and thorough investigation and prosecution” on the Mamasapano incident.
The organizations came from Europe, Africa, Asia and South America.
