DAVAO CITY — Philippine National Police (PNP) Region 11 said they are implementing a strict security for the distribution of election paraphernalia in the Commission on Elections (Comelec) precincts in Davao City starting Wednesday, April 20.
Chief Superintendent Manuel Gaerlan, regional director for Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 said that they are geared up for the upcoming election this May 9.
“Some of the election paraphernalias are being transported,” Gaerlan said.
Gaerlan said that 90 percent of the PNP personnel under the PRO 11 will be involved in the security operations of the elections, while the rest will be left at the commanding offices of the regional and provincial headquarters.
Gaerlan said the police officers who will be on duty will be assigned near their registered precincts.
He added that the Comelec regional director called to convene the joint security coordinating council to finalize the preparations for elections.
Meanwhile, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Davao chief Nestor Jimenez, said that the BFP will be alert during election period.
“During the election, we have available fire trucks and firefighters in precincts in case of fire,” Jimenez said. (davaotoday.com)
