Lt. Salcedo, one more killed tactical offensives vs. abusive 60th IB-AFP — NPA

Jun. 29, 2009

The June 15 tactical offensive initiated by the Danilo Villacorta Command of Guerrilla Front 35 that resulted in the killing of Bravo Company-60th (Infantry Battallion-Armed Forces of the Philippines) IB-AFP officer 2nd Lt. Charlie Salcedo and Private First Class Albert Toriano, sends a strong and clear message to the Arroyo government that the fascist crimes committed with impunity by forces of the 10th Infantry Division-AFP will not remain unpunished.

The standard official line of the 10th ID-AFP that there forces were on a so-called “community development mission” when hit by well-positioned Red fighters is a big lie. Or if they were telling the truth, community development for the AFP means intimidating Lumads and their tribal leaders, initiating fake surrenders, forced Cafgu recruitment, conducting combat operations that severely affect the farming of residents, and turning barangays and community civilian population centers as virtual military garrison.

The 60th IB-AFP has transformed at least eight (8) Lumads and peasant barangays in Kapalong and Talaingod, Davao del Norte into combat zones. Despite opposition from datus, Lumad leaders and residents, the 60th IB-AFP creates an atmosphere of fear among civilians in their desire to put up AFP detachments in barangay centers. The affected areas are Barangays Florida, Bunawan, Simung, Gibungan, Tiburcia, Katipunan and Suwaon in Kapalong and Barangays Dagohoy and Palma Gil in Talaingod, Davao del Norte.

More fascist crimes of the AFP is in the offing as the 60th IB intensify its operations in Kapalong and Talaingod after they lost an officer in the battlefield. We condemn the atrocities of the fascist criminals and vow to raise the level of the armed revolutionary struggle in conjunction with the people’s resistance against the brutal oppression and exploitation by the Arroyo regime and its armed machinery.
