DAVAO CITY, Philippines – It has been ten years since the cities of Davao and Nanning in China has been into partnership, and this year, the two cities will celebrate said milestone.
The City Information Office of Davao said on Tuesday that Nanning City will host a cultural and trade event here on June 9 at the Abreeza Mall.
The upcoming event will also coincide with the Filipino-Chinese Friendship Day, which was signed through Presidential Proclamation No. 148 in 2002 by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
A 44-person delegation comprised of cultural performers, medical practitioners, and business persons will be arriving here for the event.
The cultural presentations will be performed by the Nanning Art and Theatre Co., Ltd., a state-owned cultural company rated as an A art troupe by the national authority of China.
“This is among the commitments made by Nanning City when a delegation led by Nanning Mayor Zhou Hongbo visited Davao City in April this year,” the CIO said in the statement.
It added that the event, dubbed as “Nanning Day in Davao City” will also highlight and promote bilateral exchange in the fields of trade and commerce, health, and culture.
Aside from the cultural presentation, an exclusive art exhibition titled “Beautiful Nanning” will also be presented during the event.
The CIO added that part of the business delegation from Nanning will include 20 companies from agriculture, education, tourism, traditional Chinese medicine, manufacturing, and construction sectors.(davaotoday.com)
