Davao to host civil engineers’ national convention

DAVAO CITY — Davao chapter of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) will host this year?s Nationa Midyearl Convention scheduled June 14-16, 2007 at the Grand Men Seng hotel, Davaoa City.

PICE National President Engr. Juanito P. Abergas announced that the 2007 National Midyear convention carries the theme: ?PICE at 70: Civil Engineers Facing the Challenges of the New Millennium.?

Philippine Eagle Week begins; time for unity and national pride

DAVAO CITY — The heat from the May elections may not have dissipated yet, but the arrival of the month of June brings potent reminders for Filipinos to rally as one nation. Philippine Independence Day is traditionally celebrated on June 12, while the lesser known but perhaps increasingly significant Philippine Eagle Week is held June 4-10 of each year.

The Philippines’s amazing women

MANILA — Last May 16, history was made as three Pinays became the first Southeast Asian women to summit Mount Everest and the first women in the world to traverse the mountain from the North side to the South side. Filipinas Noelle Wenceslao, Carina Dayondon, and Janet Belarmino certainly made our country proud as they overcame numerous obstacles to reach the top of the highest mountain on earth.
