Philippines carrier orders more Boeing 777-300

MANILA – Philippine Airlines has increased its planned Boeing 777-300
Extended Range fleet to a total of six aircraft – four on firm order and
two on lease – by exercising its purchase rights on two option airplanes
that were part of the original order last year.

Peacekeeper from Philippines injured in East Timor clash

MANILA ? The Philippine Mission to the United Nations announced that a female Filipino police officer serving with the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Timor Leste was reported injured in a civil disturbance in the capital Dili on 20 May 2007.

In his report to Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto G. Romulo, Philippine Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Hilario G. Davide Jr., identified the injured peacekeeper as Jimeli Valera Acuna, 32, of Taytay, Rizal, and a member of the Philippine police contingent serving with the UN Integrated Mission in Timor Leste (UNMIT).

Philippines: PCCI seeks suspension of fee for customs x-ray

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) is seeking the deferment of Customs Administrative Order (CAO) 4-2007, which implements the collection of container security fees for the use of x-ray machines at the Bureau of Customs.
