Philippines: San Miguel to increase its capital stock

MANILA — The Board of Directors of San Miguel Corporation approved today the increase in its authorized capitalization from the current 4.5 billion to 7.5 billion shares, equivalent to P37.5 billion at par value, to fund the group?s acquisitions and expansion into other businesses as well as pay down debts and finance possible share buy-back.

Military terrorizing voters a week before polls

MANILA — The umbrella group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan, New Patriotic Alliance) today slammed the Armed Forces of the Philippines for the harassment of Bayan Muna representative Teddy Casi?o and Anakpawis Leyte leader Bebot Borja just after their group finished their motorcade in the Ormoc City yesterday.

Philippines: Malacanang-backed persecution of partylist groups escaltes

MANILA — Anakpawis Representative and political detainee Crispin Beltran today decried anew the worsening government and military attacks against the progressive party-lists and demanded the immediate release of Anakpawis Eastern Visayas coordinator Vincent Borja. He also denounced moves of the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ 801st Infantry Brigade to file charges against Bayan Muna lawmaker Teddy Casino.
