Members of the media, ladies and gentlemen:

Tomorrow marks the start of the second Overseas Absentee Voting exercise in our country?s history.

We assure our people that after months of extensive preparations in partnership and support of the Commission on Elections, the Foreign Service is ready to serve overseas Filipinos in the conduct of these mid-term elections.

How will this year?s elections differ from that of 2004?s?

Filipino-Norwegian Beauty Wins Miss Norway-Universe 2007 Title

13 April 2007 ? Philippine Ambassador to Sweden Victoria S. Bataclan reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that 21-year-old Filipino-Norwegian Kirby Ann Basken was crowned Miss Norway-Universe 2007 during the finals of the annual beauty pageant held in the Norwegian capital Oslo on 9 April 2007.

?This regime, true to its anti-women and violent nature, seems intent on silencing every woman who dared speak against it. Maria Luisa Posa-Dominado who was abducted last night in Panay Island has been hounded by similar threats since the 80s when she began her work as a woman activist. Now, though the administration has succeeded in abducting Luisa, her fellow women will not rest until she is released.?

Annika Markovic, Ambassador of Sweden to the Philippines, Mr. Christer Themn?r – Chairman of the foundation will present a reward of SEK 25 000,00 (approx. PhP 170 000,00) and a diploma to Mr. Jesus Sumook in a simple awarding ceremony on Monday, 16 April 2007 at 5:00 p.m. at the Office of the Secretary in Intramuros, Manila.

Philippines: Police Seize 84-Million Peso Worth of Fake Vuitton, Lacoste

PNP seizes P84 million worth of LV and Lacoste fakes
Brings total haul of NCIPR to P3.3 billion

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) conducted recently a back-to-back raid, and confiscated counterfeit Louis Vuitton and Lacoste items valued at more than P84 million. The newly created CIDG Anti-Economic Task Force directed the operation dubbed Oplan Mega Shoppers in Harrison Plaza Shopping Center in Manila and Market, Market Shopping Mall in Taguig. Close to P80 million worth of Louis Vuitton knockoffs were seized in 17 stalls inside Harrison Plaza while P4 million worth of fake Lacoste items were seized in seven stalls in Market, Market.
