DAVAO CITY, Philippines—The City Government received P2 million from the Department of Agriculture to improve the livelihood of fisherfolk in Davao City.

The money was received by Davao for its good performance and compliance of the Municipal Fishing Vessels and Gears Registry (BoatR) Program.

Primo Humilde, aquaculturist at the City Agriculturist Office, said the office has registered more than 900 motorized and non-motorized fishing vessels in Davao

BoatR is a system established to fast-track and complete the registration of fishing vessels and fishing gears as required by Executive Order No. 305 series of 2014 and the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998.

Davao City was one of the 100 cities and municipalities in the country that completed the BoatR Program. The award was given October 21 — in line with 53rd celebration of the Fisheries Week at the Philippine Coconut Authority Compound in Diliman, Quezon City. (davaotoday.com)
