DAVAO CITY – The province of Davao del Sur got the highest rank as the most competitive province in the country in this year’s National Competitiveness Council’s Cities and Municipalities Index (CMCI).
The result was based on a performance assessment of programs implemented by 1,120 local government units (LGUs) to improve the economic dynamism, government efficiency and infrastructure competitiveness in their respective areas.
Davao del Sur is the first province to receive the award under the provincial category. Misamis Oriental and Cebu got the second place and third place, respectively.
The Competitiveness award was given during the 3rd Regional Competitiveness Summit held at PICC on July 16 with about 2,000 delegates from Local Government Units all over the country, national agencies and private organizations. (davaotoday.com)
