On the 71st Araw ng Dabaw, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte refrained from giving the state of the city address, usually done by mayors in the past to apprise the citizens of the state of the city. Instead, he gave the opportunity to leaders and personalities representing the lumads, Moro, students (each from the elementary and high school), teachers, business, media, partylist groups and others to tell their story and assess the city’s performance. While some sectors describe Davao’s economy as growing, giving a satisfactory mark to the city’s peace and order situation, other sectors voice out concerns on pressing issues like prostitution, child labor and human rights violations. Below are links to the speeches.
