Fool’s gold: The case of Golden Rice

Growing up in gold-rich Compostela Valley was an adventure filled childhood. We used to play in the rivers, collecting and inspecting stones to look for gold, mimicking old people looking for fortune. One very popular mineral back then that we were so fascinated was pyrite. It has the appearance of a polished gold, more of a fancy jewelry with all its luster. However, pyrite is known as fool’s gold.

The mayor of this premier southern seaport paid tribute to the indigenous and Moro tribes, and its residents for their continued participation to the annual fruit harvest festival, considered Mindanao's festival of festivals.

PHL’s eagle center in Davao closes temporarily due to avian flu outbreak

The Philippine Eagle Foundation saw the avian flu outbreak in Pampanga as an “extreme danger” to the endangered Philippine Eagle prompting the agency to implement a two-day temporary closure at the Philippine Eagle Center.
