Philippines: TXTPower hits NTC ruling, mulls raps commissioners

MANILA — TXTPower today denounced the decision of the National
Telecommunications Commission dismissing the complaint against Globe
Telecom over the company’s 100 percent increase in unlimited texting
rates in February this year.

Aside from filing an appeal, TXTPower is studying possible legal moves
against commission officials.

KMP to block CARP extension and push for new law on land reform

MANILA — The militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) vowed to do everything in its power to block the extension of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) and said that it would push for a new law that would implement genuine land reform.

Philippines: Bedol merely invented stolen-COCs tale, says opposition

MANILA — Senate Minority Leader Aquilino ?Nene? Q. Pimentel,
Jr. (PDP-Laban) said the Genuine Opposition is not
buying the claim of Maguindanao provincial election
supervisor Lintang Bedol that he could not produce the
municipal certificates of canvass (COCs), statements
of votes (SOVs) and other documents on the results of
the May 14 polls in the province because they were
stolen from his office.

Bayan: AFP setting stage for Metro comeback in time for terror law implementation

MANILA — The umbrella group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan today assailed the Armed Forces of the Philippines for ?manufacturing popular clamor for the return of troop deployment in Metro Manila.?

The statement came in the wake of announcements by the Armed Forces of the Philippines that 19 baranggay chairmen allegedly want the troops back in their communities. The AFP revealed an alleged petition from community leaders asking that troops be brought back for peace and order.
