Philippines’s Arroyo makes strong pitch for interfaith dialogue

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Via PLDT) ? President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Monday made a strong pitch for the promotion of interfaith dialogue to bring about lasting peace, political stability and economic growth in Asia.

In a statement, the President asserted that far from being an abstract theory, interfaith dialogue is a “major contributor to peace and stability in the historically-troubled South Mindanao region.”

DBP earmarks 2-billion pesos for Southern Mindanao

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) is aiming to do more in Southern Mindanao where it earmarked close to P2 billion for investors this year in the area.

DBP president and chief executive officer Reynaldo G. David who met with the Davao Region businessmen including those from other parts of Mindanao during an investor?s presentation in coordination with the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCI) said they want to be part on more development projects that would guarantee more jobs.

Who says there’s a job shortage in Philippines?

Lots of job vacancies in RP still unfilled

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — There are lots of job vacancies in the country, but unfilled jobs do not match the demands of these industries with job openings.

Labor Secretary Arturo Brion said based on government figures, there are about nine million jobs, both local and overseas that remained vacant till 2010.
