Davao’s tribute to Bob Marley helps to fight cancer

Joan Soco, former Mutya ng Dabaw, encourages Davaoeos to support the local music talents during “reggae night” on May 11. The date happens to be the death anniversary of Nesta Robert “Bob” Marley, the British-African reggae musician who brought “mainstream cultural acceptance of reggae music outside of Africa.” Various local bands perform at the free concert to celebrate cancer prevention month. UNVEILING. The inauguration of the Museo Dabawenyo highlights the grand opening of Araw ng Dabaw celebration. Created through a city ordinance, the nine million peso building houses city artifacts, documents and other priceless objects that speak of the city’s history, people and culture.
