Runners Urged to Join EAGA Marathon in Davao City Next Month

DAVAO CITY — Professional runners and running enthusiasts are encouraged to join the first ever international marathon that will attract athletes from Brunei, Indonesia , Malaysia and the Philippines here in this city next month.

To be held in line with this year’s 13th anniversary celebration of the Brunei Darussalam Indonesia Malaysia Philippines East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA), the 1st International BIMP-EAGA Marathon will open on April 1, and will line up 3 runs: the 10-km Premier Race, the 10-Km Open Race and the 5-km race.

DBP Sets Aside P5.2 Billion for Mindanao Projects

DAVAO CITY—The Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) has set aside 5.2 billion pesos this year to finance both pipeline and newly proposed projects in Mindanao, an official of the bank said.

Rey Magno Teves, DBP director, said the bank has the funds to finance critical infrastructures that he hoped would spur economic activities in Mindanao.

It?s not enough that progressive partylist organizations — those that bear the brunt of the state?s policy of linking them to the communist movement ? are being harassed, intimidated and murdered. They, too, are being denied space for their campaign materials.
