Davao Offers Cheapest Kidney Transplant

DAVAO CITY — Kidney specialists in the city have bared that Davao offers the cheapest kidney transplant in the country today.

Dr. Franklin Guillano, a nephrologist, revealed that the city has hospitals that offer kidney transplantations for about 500,000 pesos compared to Manila’s price range from 800,000 pesos up to one million pesos.

Dumped Fetuses in Davao Worries Angging

DAVAO CITY — City Councilor Angela ?Angging? Librado-Trinidad has underscored the need in Davao City for an institution and a piece of legislation that will address reproductive health care for women.

Librado was reacting to the series of discoveries of aborted fetuses dumped in the city?s trash bins. She has been pushing to enact an ordinance that will comprehensively address women?s health because abortion, she said, has become one of the options many women resort to especially for those belonging to low-income groups who have unwanted pregnancies.

Davao’s Silent Night

Davao City prides itself with, among other things, perhaps being the only city in the Philippines that successfully implements a ban on firecrackers and pyrotechnics during the Christmas and the New Year. Although many think of this policy as “KJ” (kill joy), many support it because it reduces the number of firecracker-related injuries and accidents.

It has been the experience of Davaoenos that during the New Year, except for a few bangs here and there, their city is probably the quietest in the world. Today is going to be no different as Mayor Rodrigo Duterte vows to continue implementing the ban.
