Greenpeace, SolarGeneration challenge governments to choose clean, safe

Bangkok, 1 May 2007??The message is clear: we must choose clean and safe
energy solutions–anything else is a betrayal to the earth?s future
generations.? Greenpeace and SolarGeneration youth issued this challenge
to world governments this week as they presented renewable energy and
energy efficiency solutions at the opening of the UN?s Intergovernmental

Philippines Senator Slams ‘Inept’ Napocor Execs Over Coal

MANILA — Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Q. Pimentel, Jr.
(PDP-Laban) scored top officials of the state-owned
National Power Corporation (Napocor) for their failure
to stock up enough coal to meet higher fuel demand
power generation during the summer months when its
hydroelectric plants are shut down due to low water
levels in dams, lakes and rivers.

Davao Groups Chide Banana Growers Over Case Vs City

DAVAO CITY — The Mamayan Ayaw sa Aerial Spraying (Maas) chided the Pilipino Banana Growers and Exporters Association for filing civil charges against the city government over the controversial aerial spraying ordinance.

Dagohoy Magaway, spokesperson of Maas, said the case emanated from the arrogance and inability of PBGEA to respect the wisdom and decision of the city government over a policy that involved lives of the people and the environment.

Tawan-Tawan Residents Storm Floirendo Firm Over Drainage

DAVAO CITY — The patience of the residents of Barangay Tawan-Tawan in Baguio District has worn out pushing them to storm the main office of the Floirendo-owned Davao Agri-ventures Corp, (Davco) in Lanang to again demand from the company to do something about their problem on the absence of a comprehensive drainage system in the village that has resulted in flooding and impassable roads.
