Makabayan Bloc representatives on March 30 called President Rodrigo Duterte “red-tagger in chief” after Duterte accused the progressive bloc as legal front of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).

CPP orders ‘NPA special units’ to strike in cities, towns

The Central Committee (CC) of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) has ordered its military wing, the New People’s Army (NPA), to strike in the cities and towns nationwide to punish those involved in counter-revolutionary actions.

Gov’t says NPA ‘end’ is near, but increases defense budget this year

Contrary to the government’s pronouncement that the New People’s Army (NPA) is already a “spent force” and that the revolutionary movement is expected to be wiped out when President Rodrigo Duterte steps down from office this June, the country’s budget for the defense services has not been reduced but has in fact seen an increase this year.
