Group says Moros ‘prime targets’ of ‘oppressive’ terror law

DAVAO CITY — “We appeal and call the attention of the upper house in the senate as well as lawmakers in the Congress to question the Human Security Act in the Supreme Court, as these unlawful and inhuman law approved by Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as this was set to be implemented this coming July 15, 2007 after she signed it last March 2007,” Abubakar Uy said Suara Bangsamoro Secretary General in Southern Mindanao Region.

US immigration bill’s failure sidelines ‘Family Reunification Act’

WASHINGTON, D.C. ? Today, the U.S. Senate could not muster the 60 votes needed to limit debate and move towards a final up-or-down vote on S. 1639, the Comprehensive Immigration Bill. Today?s vote effectively kills the legislation for the time being. Senator Daniel K. Akaka (D-HI) voted yes, to limit debate and advance the bill.
