Free TESDA Assessment and Training Benefits for OFWs

MANILA — The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) requires household service workers for deployment to obtain a Household Services National Certificate issued officially by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). This POEA mandate is part of a series of reforms to upgrade work standards and to safeguard the welfare of OFWs. To date, TESDA has certified 11,526 household workers.

SC Resolves Mayoralty Issue in Mabalacat, Pampanga

MANILA — The Supreme Court has ordered the vice-mayor of Mabalacat, Pampanga to head its local government until June 30, 2007 after it unseated Mabalacat Mayor Marino ?Boking? Morales whom it found ineligible to have run in the 2004 elections. The decision is immediately executory.

Foreign journalists barred from entering military camp in Philippines

Two journalists from the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines (Focap) were banned from entering the Philippine Marines headquarters in Taguig City on 9 May 2007 for an arranged interview with jailed opposition senatorial candidate and former Navy officer Antonio Trillanes IV.

Focap is the organization of foreign correspondents based in the Philippines.
