What the European Union should do on killings


Councilor Angela Librado-Trinidad delivered a privilege speech at the City Council this week denouncing the so-called "re-engineering" of the bureaucracy, which, she said, threatens the job security and welfare of government workers in the city.
Analysis | It takes more than a ?moral alternative? and religious preaching to be able to take a gutsy position on big issues. The flock should be shepherded into the mass movement for social emancipation that has long taken roots.

Economic policy reform is inherently political. Economic policies are codified into public laws, regulations, ordinances and other legal instruments that establish the ?rules of the game? and allocate access and assets among various members of the body politic. Changes in economic policy affect the status or welfare of communities in varying ways, often evoking resistance from those whose welfare or status may be diminished by the reforms.
