Journalists gather for two-day training on human rights reporting

Nov. 20, 2009

DAVAO CITY Around 30 media practitioners across the region gather starting November 20 until November 21 at the Eden Nature Park and Garden Resort in Toril, Davao City for a two-day human rights reporting seminar-workshop.

With the theme: Sensible & Sensitive: Journalism for Human Rights, the seminar-workshop hopes to enhance the participants awareness and understanding of the situation of the tri-people of Mindanao — the Lumad, Moro and Christians — to improve reportage on peace and human rights issues concerning these sectors.

The seminar-workshop features resource persons from non-government organizations and senior media practitioners to encourage interactive discussion among participants for a better understanding of these issues.

The training workshop is sponsored by the Initiatives for Peace in Mindanao and the Resource Center for Peoples Advocacies, in coordination with the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines- Davao City chapter, with the support of the World Association for Christian Communication.
