COMPOSTELA VALLEY PROVINCEAs part of strengthening the music and arts industry of the province, Governor Arturo T. Uy distributed instruments to several drum & bugle corps (DBC) to elementary and secondary public school levels.

As reported, 60 complete sets of DBC instruments have been given away, with this an additional ten sets to be acquired by the provincial government this November.

This program of Governor Uy motivated the schools to strengthen the more their respective DBC, which from time to time joins Municipal DBC competitions up to the provincial level especially during the Bulawan Festival celebration every year.

It can be recalled that in February of this year, ComVal entries were declared the DBC champion and the first runner-up from among the 17 entries during the Musikahan Festival of Tagum City. It was the first time for ComVal to join a DBC competition in Tagum City. The champion was the Nuevo Iloco Elementary School of Mawab while the first runner-up was the Mabini Central Elementary School of Mabini , which is also the present provincial DBC grandslam winner, its third consecutive win in as many years.
