PRC issues new regulations for broadcasting stations

DAVAO CITY—The Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) has issued a new memorandum circular setting the guidelines for minimum manning and manpower requirement of the broadcast industry.

The Board of Electronics Engineering Memorandum Circular 2010-07 is in line with the pertinent provisions of RA 9292 or the Electronics Law of 2004.

The new provisions states that:

1. Any television and radio broadcasting and CATV facilities must be manned at all times by a holder of a valid Certificate of Registration and Professional Identification Card of an Electronics Technician

2. The facilities of any TV and radio broadcasting station and CATV station shall be under the direct supervision of a valid Certificate of Registration and Professional Identification Card of an Electronics Engineer.

3. The position in the managerial level involved in the operations of the television and radio broadcasting and CATV shall be a holder of a valid Certificate of Registration and Professional Identification Card of a Professional Electronics Engineer.

The PRC is enjoining television and radio broadcasting stations and CATV stations to strictly comply with the new memorandum. (PRC/PIA XI)
