During the time of President Fidel V. Ramos, Sasa port was upgraded to accommodate more foreign and inter-island cargo vessels, with stevedores and fork-lift operators manning their equipment to load and unload cargoes.
Now, the current administration of President Benigno Aquino lll wants to modernize the Sasa port through Private Public Partnership “PPP” program. A project with an estimated cost of P4 billion was submitted by the Philippine Port Authority(PPA) in 2013. Recently, the cost of modernizing the Sasa port has gone up to P17 billion, considering the land area is already congested it doesn’t meet the requirements to modernize.
