DAVAO CITY, Philippines – About 200 new civil security units (CSUs) were deployed to both private and public schools all over the city to beef up security measures.

Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) chair, Benito De Leon said City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio’s request to augment more CSUs in schools took effect yesterday, August 1.

The new CSUs were in addition to the existing 541 CSUs currently deployed by the city government.

As instructed by the local chief, De Leon stressed the new security personnel took a two-week training last June and were provided with two sets of uniforms each and other equipment.

Meanwhile, Department of Education (DepEd) Davao City, Schools Division Superintendent, Maria Ines Asuncion expressed gratitude to the city government and the PSSCC’s effort in providing the additional CSUs.

Asuncion said with the additional number of security personnel, every school in the city now has at least one security guard.

Asuncion added that they are also requesting for the training of the 541 existing guards.

“We request that the existing 541 guards be trained because we observed that the newly assigned 200 guards are more effective,” Asuncion said.

De Leon assured the DepEd that they will set a schedule for the training of all the guards.(davaotoday.com)
