‘Bombo Radyo: No One to Blame But Adonis Himself’

Mar. 10, 2007

In fine, he should not impute the blame on Bombo Radyo based on the following reasons:

1.) There was no management directive prohibiting him to apologize to Nograles. On the contrary, he chose to stand by his story and dismissed the apology-for-dismissal suggestions being floated around at that time;

2.) The management of Bombo Radyo extended all the support to him and his co-accused in terms of posting of bailbond, hiring the services of lawyers for their defense, and expenses for their travel, food, lodging and security (in the case of acquitted Mr. Vicente) for them to attend trial in Davao until Adonis went on AWOL and the network has no other recourse but to dismiss him from service for a cause. Bombo Radyo did not abandon him; it was him who abandoned Bombo Radyo;

3.) His conviction, as stated in the court decision, was based on his failure to present evidence to debunk the prosecutions evidence which negated the presumption of innocence guaranteed by the Constitution in his favor. He failed to present evidence because he went into hiding even before the prosecution rested its case. Therefore, his failure to present evidence for his defense was only caused by his own doing, not because Bombo Radyo prevented him from doing so.

Despite of all that has happened, Bombo Radyo assures the listening public that it continues to maintain a professional relationship with Congressman Prospero Nograles. The Congressman himself has also shown that he does not harbor any ill feelings against Bombo Radyo management as he continues to grant Bombo Radyos requests for interviews on valid public issues, specifically those pertaining to his official functions as majority floor leader of the House of Representatives. Bombo Radyo on the other hand accommodates Congressman Nograles requests for airtime to disseminate the significant activities of the lower house especially those affecting his constituents in the 1st Congressional District of Davao City.
