DAVAO CITY, Philippines – About 2,000 city councilors from around the country gathered at the SMX Convention Center here as the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) opened on Monday, September 18.

Dubbed as “Christian-Muslim Councilors are one for Peace and Development”, the event is composed of different lectures such as drafting various codes and policies aimed to enhance the capacity of the local legislators for them to become more effective and efficient.

The PCL also aims to discuss Davao City’s best practices including peace and order, women and children, environment, business, and tourism.

The three-day event will be graced by various national authorities such as House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, Philippine National Police Chief Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa, Senator Manny Pacquiao, Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales, among others.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte is also set to join the legislators on the last day of the event. (davaotoday.com)
