The Philippine Government appreciates the commitment of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) to the peace process in the Southern Philippines and to the 1996 Peace Agreement between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

Sulu Clashes Could Disrupt Philippines Elections

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Senate Minority Leader Aquilino
?Nene? Q. Pimentel, Jr. (PDP-Laban) today expressed
concern that renewed clashes between government
soldiers and Muslim rebels in Sulu could disrupt the
May 14 elections unless it is stopped immediately.

Pimentel urged the government and military authorities
to look into the cause of the latest outbreak of
fighting between Armed Forces of the Philippines and
the Moro National Liberation Front in Sulu,
particularly the group of a Habier Malik, to prevent
their recurrence.

Pimentel Urges Philippine Govt to Use All Means to Stop Sulu Clashes

Philippines: Suara Denounces Sulu Clashes

Suara Bangsamoro condemns the present military offensives in Sulu.

We condemn the continous attacks to MNLF areas specially the area of state chairman, Khaid Ajibun.

“Bakit ang attack sa MNLF ay lagi on the pretext na me ASG pursuit samantalang the MNLF made it clear na hindi nila kinakanlong ang mga ASG at JI sa kanilang camps.”

Philippines: Dureza Tells AFP to Mind Welfare of Sulu Civilians

Jesus Dureza, President Arroyo’s adviser on the peace process, has released a statement saying that the clashes in Sulu was not directed against the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF). He also called on the military to be careful not to harm civilians during its operations.
