Groups debunk BBM’s position on NTF-ELCAC and red-tagging

Journalists, NGO workers, and union organizers are disputing the position of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that he will not dissolve the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), which has been known for red-tagging individuals and groups since its formation in 2018.

Heading in to International Labor Day on May 1, the labor center Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) slams the Marcos Jr. administration for failing to stop the harassment and red-tagging of labor union leaders in Davao Region.

This is the second time a Special Rapporteur has recommended the abolition of NTF-ELCAC. However, we stress that Executive Order No. 70 passed in 2018, which created the said task force, should also be junked.
