Commuters told to avoid colorum vans

Nov. 17, 2015

DAVAO CITY – An official of the Land Transportation Office in Region 11 urged commuters to patronize only duly registered and franchised vans for their protection on the road.

In a Philippine Information Agency dispatch, Atty. Eleanor Calderon, chief operations officer of the LTO 11 reminded commuters that they are putting their lives at risk when riding on colorum vans which do not have insurance coverage to shoulder the expenses for the victims once they meet a road accident.

The LTO warning came following the closing shop of van terminals surrounding the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal.

“The colorum vehicles will just vanish if the commuters would no longer patronize them,” Calderon said.

She said as long as commuters use these vehicles, they will continue to thrive.

Calderon added that commuters must ride on legitimate vans which are parked in legitimate terminals.(davaotoday.com)
